What happens during a Business Wrench Checkup?

A 60–90 minute working session with the owner. We walk through the numbers, pricing, customer and job mix, labor, workflow, cash flow and how much of the business runs through you. It's a conversation with questions, not a presentation.

What information do I need to provide?

A recent profit and loss statement, a rough sense of your pricing, and a list of your largest customers or job types. If you have a balance sheet, job costing or a KPI report, bring those too. If you don't, we work with what you have.

Do I need perfect financial statements?

Accepted Answer

No. Very few owner-operated businesses have perfect books. We work with what exists and tell you plainly where the numbers are too unclear to draw a conclusion — which is itself a useful finding.

Is this accounting or tax consulting?

Accepted Answer

No. Business Wrench provides business, operational and management guidance. We are not a CPA firm, we don't prepare taxes, we don't perform audits, and we don't give legal advice.

Is Business Wrench only for struggling companies?

No. Plenty of profitable, growing businesses have pricing gaps, owner bottlenecks or unprofitable customers they can't see. Growth tends to expose those problems rather than solve them.

What size companies do you work with?

Generally businesses doing about $500,000 to $5 million in annual revenue. That's a guideline, not a rule — companies above or below that range are sometimes a good fit.

Do you work with startups?

Usually not. The work depends on real operating history: actual customers, actual costs, actual jobs. Pre-revenue businesses don't have enough of that yet.

How can a profitable business still have cash-flow problems?

Profit is an accounting result. Cash is timing. Slow-paying customers, inventory, equipment purchases, debt payments, deposits and work in progress all consume cash that never appears as an expense on the P&L. You can have record sales and still run out of cash.

Can Business Wrench help with pricing?

Yes, and it's one of the most common findings. Most pricing problems come from a labor rate that never got updated for wages, insurance, vehicles and overhead — not from charging too little on purpose.

Can you help make my business less dependent on me?

That's usually a mix of process, delegation and information. If everything routes through you, it's often because nobody else has the information or authority to decide. Both of those can be fixed deliberately.

What happens after the 90-day plan?

Most owners implement it themselves. Some want help — monthly reviews, KPI tracking and accountability are available as an ongoing engagement, but nothing obligates you to continue.
